We were called in to investigate claims that a prisoner, accused of abuse and very serious sexual assault against his partner, had received a letter from the victim exonerating his crimes.
- Detailed analysis of the letter and the envelope using stereo zoom microscopy.
We uncovered that the suspect had placed the questioned letter in an envelope previously sent to him by the victim. The enclosed letter exonerating him of his crimes only bore a superficial resemblance to the victim’s handwriting. We were able to show that the suspect had attempted to copy the victim’s handwriting from previously received correspondence. He was found guilty of his crimes and given an extended sentence by the Judge in Crown Court.
